Princess Donut, the Queen Anne Chonk

Donut Coin

Princess Donut, the Queen Anne Chonk. No value, all fun. Node: …

What am I looking at?

Princess Donut, the Queen Anne Chonk, named herself Queen and decided a queen ought to have a coin. This is the coin. Her steed Mongo carries the purse, and bears it with the quiet dignity of someone who would carry anything she asked him to.

Under the Crown it is a real proof-of-work blockchain: a block a minute, mined on ordinary computers by whoever turns up, counted in Ribbons, Tiaras and Crowns because those are the things a show cat actually wins. It is worth nothing on purpose: not money, not an investment, nothing to buy into. Coins are mined, never sold. This page is the ledger, updating every few seconds.

New here? Start mining in five minutes, make a wallet, or read how it works.

Your odds right now

If you started mining this minute on a computer with spare threads, you would find ….

Worked out from the live network speed and about 4,000 hashes a second per thread, which is what the machines mining here actually do. It changes as people join and leave: more miners, longer odds.

python -m donutcoin.miner --node https://donutcoin.meme --address @yourname --threads 4

Full setup on Get started, or a single file from Download. A block is 10,000 DONUT, which buys nothing, on purpose.

Said on the chain

Notes written into transactions, 280 characters at most. The block gives each one its time, the signature its author. To speak you need a licence (a block found in the last week), a Ribbon in hand, a @username and a 100 DONUT fee; one note per block. Post yours from the wallet. Every note has a permanent link on the Notes page, and there is an RSS feed.

Who holds Donut Coin

–with a @username
–mined their own
–paid by someone else

An address is a hash of a public key and says nothing about who owns it. A username is optional: make one and your blocks and notes carry your name.

Everyone holding a Ribbon or more.

Donut Coin moving

The last ten transfers. Until final counts the blocks still needed: at 21 the chain will no longer rewrite it, which is also when the market settles a trade. Mined coins are not here; they are in the block table below. @donut used to send one block’s worth, 10,000 DONUT, to whoever had found the fewest blocks lately, as a thank-you for turning up. That tip is paused for now.
